Frequently asked questions
It is essential for the school to provide good Norwegian education for our students, both the native speakers and international students. We provide Language and Literature for native speakers and Language Acquisition lessons for language learners. Our Norwegian language lessons are crucial for the students introduction to Norwegian culture as well as the language and essential for the students inclusion in the larger community. Several of our teachers are bilingual and are fluent in both Norwegian and English. Despite our disadvantage only having a limited number of lessons with Norwegian as the language of instruction, our school scores higher on national tests in Norwegian than the local Norwegian schools.
All students who attend AIS can transfer to Norwegian schools at a later point. This goes for those who graduate grade 10 as well as those who transfer to other Norwegian schools at any time during their education. The grade 10 students will have their IB grades converted into the Norwegian system for their high school applications.
Anyone can apply to AIS, Norwegians as well as international students. However, we can only accept students with a residence permit. If classes are close to full, we will have to apply the list of priorities listed in the admission policy.
Yes, one can apply from abroad, but the school can only accept students with a residence permit as they are still a part of the Norwegian education system.
