The teaching and learning at AIS
The teaching and learning at Arendal International School is driven forward by the school’s commitment to the contemporary and research based practices that are at the core of the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Both in the MYP and the PYP one of the key elements is the belief that students will fulfill their potential in a concept driven environment. Concept based learning is about transferable ideas that transcend time, place, situation. Students are expected to inquire and develop an understanding by connecting their learning across all the subject areas. Subjects are not left in isolation and are used to support each other.
The PYP has identified 10 Key Concepts that will be addressed during the 6 units of inquiry that take place during the year, examples might be Change, Form and Perspective.
In the MYP, the learning is student centered and concept driven like in the PYP. If you are interested in further detail about the methodology and learning at AIS you will be able to find this in our welcome package.
